May 24, Harmonic returns to The Standard Downtown for the 5th season of their rooftop pool series BASK. Being that it’s Memorial Day Sunday, it’s no surprise that they’re once again holstering a massive lineup that can only be partially announced because of the magnitude of their SURPRISE GUEST headliner, who will performing a 2+ hour closing set. The other headliner Harmonic is able to disclose has a dj/production/entrepreneurial career spanning over 25 years and been a pioneer in furthering technology in electronic music worldwide. JOHN ACQUAVIVA began his international career in 1989 with Richie Hawtin by founding one of the world’s best known and influential techno labels, Plus 8 Records. The founding of plus 8 records put John Acquaviva and Richie Hawtin at the vanguard of the emerging international electronic music movement and dj culture. In 1993, Acquaviva and Hawtin also founded Definitive Recordings, which has more than six #1 overall charted songs on Beatport.

John was literally one of the first few artists to take notice and embrace electronic music’s digital future at the dawn of 2000 by championing Final Scratch (now known as a little program called Traktor). Following that success, John took another enormous step to help found and launch Beatport.com, the largest and most important dance-music download site in the world. Having been on the international DJ circuit since 1990 and on perpetual world touring ever since, John achieved his commercial pinnacle by reaching #22 on the DJ Mag 2006 list. His international career has spanned well over 2 decades at the very highest level now, with thousands of parties and millions of people having heard him play. He’s about as veteran as they come, and will undoubtedly rock the newly and tastefully renovated rooftop at The Standard.

Keeping the daytime pool vibes ripe that day will be two of Harmonic’s finest starting pitchers, who are no strangers to the rooftop and always bring the heat while keeping it cool. BAS, who’s 1/2 of dj/production duo Plastic Love and Plastic Love Records, as well as Music Savages co-founder, operator, wizard, and resident sleaze-oid, MATTHEW DERHAM. Please RSVP to rsvpharmonic@gmail.com and come celebrate the 5 year anniversary of BASK with a legend in the game, two local heroes, and a SURPRISE GUEST who you won’t want to miss!
