Get Ableton Live. Problem solved. You have a computer already. Ask nick, he can help ya. You can make mixes in Ableton. If not, try to find ya a copy of virtual dj or deckadance. I sold my tables in hard times, and then started messing with these programs and never looked back.

Virtual DJ ≠ DJ
In fact, any program that auto beatmatches for yah is just lazy IMHO.

I actually use to us Serato. Once I got a pair of Denon DN- S1200's, I stopped using it. Thinking about selling it.

I don't want to go off on a rant here but........ok I do.
I used Serato for over a year and I sweared by it everyday. I still think it is one of the best digital DJ equipment out there. The problem is, when you have to play out, You have to carry your laptop, laptop stand, Serato Box, Wires (4 RCA's and a USB cable), and your vinyl or CD controllers (needles required if you are playing vinyl). Setting it up can be a pain and take up time. If done right, you can have it hooked up in less then 2 minutes but, if you are using vinyl, everything on the table has to be working in near mint condition. If there is something wrong with the tone arm, Serato won't work. if you needles aren't connecting, you have to get new needles. On several occasions I would be playing and everything is working just fine, then in the middle of my set I start getting a dragging digital sound that just destroys your set. Sometimes the track would load but Serato will not let me play it due to a connection problem (usually with the needles). So you have to find out lickity split what the problem is. Serato is very picky and don't think CD's get away with this. Serato isn't compatible with all CD player out there. Luckily Pioneer is the industry standard so it works with all CDJ's, but my Denon's aren't compatible with it. What I mean by compatible is you can't use the cue, pause, or any other features (rewind works just like pressing play, yep pretty shitty). You can basically press play then you have to use the laptop to do all the controls and that's a lot of keys to remember. Also, if you don't have a keyboard that lights up on your laptop, you might hit the wrong key. Pretty much takes all the fun out of it.
I've been wanting to spin on 3 decks ever since I saw it done. With Serato, you can't do that. You are forced to use 2 decks. They are coming out with a new mixer that will let you use 4 decks but it will cost you $3000. Fuck that, I can get 3 brand new Technics for $1500 or 3 Denon's for $1200 and a 3 channel mixer for less then $800 (keep in mind, this are just ball parks). Traktor allows this which is sweet but you can't use that with the vinyl controls. Has to be CDJ's. One thing I don't like with Traktor is it has a sync button (aka auto-I can't beatmatch button) so that essentially takes the aspect of being a DJ away. But I'm getting off track here, I'm suppose to be talking about Serato, a program I'm more familiar with.
My friend Medicine Man actually suggested I go the CD route and highly recommended the Denon's. I was skeptical at first because I feared I wouldn't be able to see my wavelengths. He actually showed me a niffty way to remember the reps on my music and I've never looked back. Seeing a wavelength can be deceiving at times because it's constantly shrinking and growing when you load a track depending on how long or how short the track is. As all DJ's know, timing is crucial. What is also really cool about the Denon's, and by the way is going to be the future of DJing, is the ability to use Flash drives. Yes, you can actually hook up your flash drive to the CD deck and load it up. No need to flip through CD cases, worry about scratches, faulty burned CD's, etc. You can load them as is but, it's recommended that you use the music manager software that you can install on any computer. You can create play lists, organize how you want your tracks laid out, etc. It's great and if I want to load up a track real fast, all I have to do is turn the knob, highlight the track I want and just push down on it. Bam, track is loaded. The nice thing about them as well, they are small. Seriously, look them up. I can fit 2 of them in my backpack and take them to a show with me. What's even better, I can hook up 2 of them in less then 30 secs.
If you choose to use Serato, by all means use it. It's a great program. To each their own. From my experience, CD decks are the way to go. Or vinyl if you are a hard core vinyl enthusiast. This is all IMHO.

Man this annoys the hell out of me... even IF it has a sync button, its up to who's playing if they use it or not. Like Torq has an autosync button, in fact with the Xponent controller its like right there in front of you. That DOESN"T mean you have use it. I hit it a few times to see how it worked but after that I've left it alone. Just because the option is there doesn't mean it is used all the time. I bet Serato has a sync option as well.

Re: 25min mini mix - drum&bass
And if you use it, so what. All it does is match tempos together. Anyone can learn how to do that manually. Mixing takes much more than just matching the beats together. You have to know if two tracks will work together, when to mix one with the other, track selection. You can't just take two tracks, hit the sync button, and BOOM, you're a dj. It doesn't work like that. I wish you people would get off the sync trip. I know sevceral people who have DJed over the internet with Virtual DJ. It's not really the program I'd use, but it's effective. I don't think people want to see a DJ play with a laptop all night either. And if you're going to play out with Ableton, you better be ready to do some live pa or something like that, cause yeah, it is kinda easy and you have time to do tons of more thing with your mix.
I was just simply letting you know, there are other options if you want to keep mixing and don't have the cash for tables. I sold my tables when we had our first kid too. I needed diapers and baby food and all that. Priorities ya know. Since then, I've spent like what, over $1500 on music equipment, and I just said forget about buying the tables again. Maybe someday. Ableton serves my needs, and I only DJ online anyway. I have no plans on attending a rave for the rest of my days, not even to perform, forget it.
