it's a 2 way street.
remember that.

nothing specific, just something people might want to consider when they're making plans.
just because it's not you, your close friends or your crew doing something doesn't mean you can't stop by for a bit and have a drink or 2. even a little like that can go a long way to helping out the entire EDM scene.
extinguish potentially violent elements as well imo
You'll have our support nxt tuesday bro!
well i know that this isn't directly pointed @ myself, i understand where you are coming from. I DO like to show my support for those who throw parties, but i like to make it a special occasion of sorts in my book because its very rare that i get to go out to events because of life things etc. I planned on going last night to Atomix but i remembered earlier that day that i promised my boyfriend that i would go with him to see Terminator. And since my work sched is so stupid (1-10 m-f) i dont really see him enough durring regular days to actually do stuff with him. But trust me everytime i go out and have a few drinks in my system and meet some cool ppl its a real treat for me...i especially enjoy the completely sarcastic conversations between myself and sean in passing...good stuff. I dont know alot of you in person but i hope over time that will change...i'm just not someone who goes out all the time....but i DO support ya....![]()
*this may not even be in reference to atomix but i just threw that in there*
BTW Terminator was ALRIGHT some of it was cheese...the end was rad though.....
Star Trek was better.![]()
I liked Dave's complaints about this. Like when he was spinning and a 'friend' texted him asking him when the headliner was coming on so they could see when he/she/they should come out.
As for myself, my excuse is I'm broke, and these days its a rediculously long drive by myself. I don't even drive downtown hardly, much less to SA. Then again it was much easier to do back in like '03 & '04 when I lived in San Marcos and south Austin...and not 30min further northwest like I do now.
However, I would like to come down more often, quite a few folks down there I never see and have been wanting to. (Like I still haven't met Cinder & Cricket's lil one yet...)
my post is more direct towards promoters/DJs. those of us who do this stuff know how critical support is. there's more than enough love to go around, so we should do our best to help each other out. it's not a competition.
^ agreed
Great thread topic, Swatch, I like this.
i supported many shows over the years and went out to many peoples nights.
and when i hardly EVER saw people from teknosounds supporting anything i was doing, it didnt matter. sometimes i saw hundreds show up, sometimes barely 20 people including bartenders and djs.
either you love what you do, or not doing it for the reasons ur fooling yourself with.
either way, support is a pipedream too many people bitch about.
do the best you can and if they like you, they will come.
if they dont come, who fuckin cares, have ur OWN party and enjoy doing what you do.
i would still feel fortunate enough entertaining just 5 people alone then none at all.
even if it was the clowns that where doing it with me that night.
basically all the great points everybody can make on this topic wont change how damn right fickle most people are.
unless ya got a friday or saturday night, on a regular basis, in a good location, with very little to complain about, ya just might manage to stay consistent enough to draw plenty of regulars... other wise, good luck with any expectations ya might have
people arent likely to venture out weekdays or too far out of their way, especially with todays economy.
well i know for a fact i support as much as i can by goin out to local shows all the time..last night was the first time me and rich hadnt gone out in forever..and when i dont know if i can make it or not ill forward info via crackspace, here*though not as much as id like lately*, twitter and txt msgs..was weird not goin out last night but spent some much needed time with my lil girl![]()
it would be nice if everyone would do the same. for some people everyday life and being responsible get in the way..and some ppl are just to lazy or just wanna goto clubby shows..
im sure alex and branden could say PLENTY about support.
ur gonna have dead nights, ur just gonna.
but if ya let it bother u, then either you dont love doin it enough, or ur just givin up too soon.
and fuck those trollin for support that dont support nobody but themselves... they just doin their job and takin care of their business... it aint personal or anything to blame.
What time does Tiesto come on again???
