Police advise adults to beware of local rave parties

    by Robert Boyer | June 19, 2012 8:24 am

Houston Police are advising people to beware of rave parties after a 21-year-old Friendswood man died after being found unresponsive in a car on Kress Street on Saturday morning, June 16, according to a press release.

Kevin Schoolmeyer, 21, was on his way home from a rave with a friend around 6:15 a.m. June 16, according to KHOU News, when a friend told police that Schoolmeyer became enraged, pulled over to park on the side of the road and ordered the friend to get out of the car.

The friend left but returned a short time later to find Schoolmeyer unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced Schoolmeyer dead at the scene.

Schoolmeyer might have bought drugs at the "Illuminaughty" rave and might have been under the influence of LSD. The rave, organized by a local Friendswood teen, was the same rave that Schoolmeyer had attended the evening of his death.

Another "Illuminaughty" rave organized by the same Friendswood teen will be held Friday, June 22 in Houston, according to Facebook events. Police think the rave will put more youth at risk of exposure to the drug that killed Schoolmeyer.

The death marks the second time in a week that a Friendswood resident was hurt by ingesting LSD. At 11:51 p.m. June 11, a 17-year-old Friendswood girl was taken to the emergency room after she took three hits of LSD at her home on Remington Court.

A friend of the girl also told police they had bought the LSD at a rave party in Houston. The teen began having seizures, and Friendswood medics were called. The 17-year-old Friendswood neighbor who had also taken three hits of acid called 911 for help when her friend started having seizures.

One girl was taken by ambulance and the other by private vehicle to the hospital. No charges have been filed, but investigators are following up on these cases.
