Thread: Cheesy/cliche snare rolls examples?

  1. #1 Cheesy/cliche snare rolls examples?
I'm trying to find some examples of really cliche snare roll build ups. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about:

I know they're all over the place, but I can't seem to find a really clean example. Does anyone have any leads? The cheesier the better! Thanks!

you can make one in FL, Reason, Ableton and many others in less then 5 seconds.

No joke! I'm working on a research project and am trying to find straightforward examples of the various kinds of cliches that one might encounter in an EDM track. A lot of artists now use variations of the kind of build I'm talking about and it seems like a kind of musical commentary on the idiom. But in order to talk about it I need to find a couple examples of the cliche in its "original" form.

Does anyone have any good examples? The more simple and obvious the better. Thanks!

Perhaps I should be more specific. Here's a good example of what I'm looking for:

Dyro & Jacob van Hage - "EMP" (skip to 2:14)

But I'd really like to find a few more things like this, where the build leads to a climax on the downbeat (without any sort of pause):

Mauro Picotto - "Lizard" (skip to 3:30)

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Me too. I'll try again.

I'm working on a research project. For this project I would like to have a couple of examples of a build to a climax that uses a cliche rhythmic diminution pattern in the snare. (For example, a bar of obvious snare 8th notes, followed by 16th notes, followed by 32nd notes, followed by an impossibly fast snare roll that leads to a climactic downbeat.) I have a couple tracks that work (see above), but was hoping that somebody on this forum might be able to help me out by suggesting a track with an even clearer example.

If somebody has a track in mind, I would love to hear about it.
